1. How can I determine my exact hatsize?
Please don’t estimate your hatsize from other hats. Especially factory made hats can be very different in size. My handmade hats are all true in size, so please measure your exact head circumference right above the eyebrows and ears (where the hat normally “sits”) with a taylors measuring and send it to me inlcuding decimal place (millimeters). 2. What exactly means “handmade”?
As a custom hatter everything I do to create your Fedora hat, from blocking over sewing and sewing in each trimming to shaping it, is completely done by hand. The best materials and the knowledge of processes of hatmaking mostly forgotten today ensure the high quality for this premium product.

4. Can I wear my Fedora in the rain ?
The most important and valuable part of your hat is the felt. It has been impregnated and it is recommended to renew this impregnation regularly (please ask me for recommendations). However, please notice that felt hats are generally no hats for a rainy day. Hats made of fabric, leather and wax covered hats are more suitable here. A few raindrops are no problem, but the felt should never get completely soaked. This is because the felt is stretched when it is blocked, resulting in tiny air pockets. When the hat is now soaked and then dries, the felt contracts again and returns to its original shape given before blocking. Even the best and most intricately worked felt will eventually contract when exposed to too much moisture. If your hat ever gets wet, dab the damp spots with paper towel or tissue and simply let it dry at room temperature.
5. What is the difference between Beaver- and Rabbit-Felt?
The underfur of the beaver, which is used to make hatbodies, is more smooth than the underfur of the rabbit, which gives your hat a silk-like and noble surface. Furthermore beaver felt is more dense that rabbit felt, which makes it more rsistent against humidity. But in the end it’s just a question of taste. Look at our products and simply choose the one you like best.
6. What is a hat retainer good for?
After some years felt hats may shrink because of atmospheric humidity. When you don’t wear your hat for a longer period of time a hat retainer helps to retain the correct size.
7. What exacly is the Raiders Turn?
In the first movie in many scenes a hat was used that was slighty turned on the head and shaped afterwards. This creates the little swoop in the brim. Not all fans want this swoop, so we leave this choice to our customers. The green line shows the “normal” center of the hat / crown, the blue line shows the new bashed center:
8. Why are the hat linings glued in and not sewed in?
The hat lining is the first piece of a hat which is replaced, because it will discolour because of sweat and maybe it will also smell a bit after some time. Instead of sewing in the hat linings we glue them, because each stitch of a needle will hurt the felt of the hat. If a hat lining is replaced several times the felt will become more and more instable, which can be a problem when reblocking the hat. We use a glue based on natural rubber (caoutchouc), which can be removed resisue-free and which will absolutely not hurt the felt. This makes your hat much more durable.
If you still would like your hat lining to be sewn in and not glued, just let me know. There will be no extra costs.
